The Kgolathuto Secondary School started in 1988 and it presented its first matric in 1991. It was chosen by the Free State Department of Education to be Dinaledi school. This initiative came after the good results of Maths and Science.
In 1998 two of our learners were awarded bursary to study abroad by Telkom after performing exceptionally well. The school was awarded a HALL which was renamed after the Former Principal Mr. RS Sefali after obtaining an outstanding result in matric in the year 2003.
This is the first school to introduce Computer Application Technology and Travel and Tourism in 2003 in the area of Phuthaditjhaba.
The school was sponsored by the Kagiso Trust in 2009 with Mathematics, Life Sciences, Library and the renovation of the Science Lab.
In 2001 MTN donated a cricket ground to improve the extra-curricular activities in our school. Vincent Pule, the Orlando Pirates player donated soccer gare in the in sponsoring the school as he was one of our own. Motsepe Foundation donated R150 000. 00 which was used to buy computers for learners doing CAT.
In 2016 we had 11 learners in the top100 of the province which make a huge impact to the life of our institution.
More learners are obtaining 100% in different subject in the NSC results year in year out.
The school has been in the top10 of the province with Accounting since 2009.
In 2012 and 2016 through an outstanding result of Mathematics we obtained R10 000.00.
The then Deputy Principal has been an evaluator for Businesses Studies for two years nationally.
The principal was elected to attend a seminar in China around 2009 for the enhancement of primary and secondary leadership.
Deputy Principal became an examiner for Business studies in 2006 and 2007.
The principal was nominated as a best Maths Teacher in the National Teaching Awards of 2017 and best in secondary school leadership.
Our learners are participating nationally with a choral music and nationally with other sporting codes.
Recently Telkom through Department of Education donated 186 laptops for learners and 19 for teachers together with a full digital classroom.
